Kensington Market

Love Affair With Kensington Market
Kensington Market is fertile ground for the writer. There is the visual backdrop of a preserved, well “lived in”, Victorian neighbourhood with old fashioned lanes and parks and tall antique Victorian houses. Many have become shops of every kind, restaurants and bars which seem spill out into the street. Some are still homes with gardens and porches and squeaky gates. There is the life that goes on inside and outside. Original and colourful characters and personalities abound and seem to people the place as if it were an old world village in Europe.
I have written a series of short memoirs about my experiences in and around Kensington Market over the last few years culminating in opening my boutique Miriam and Micah Vintage on Kensington Avenue. I am presently working on a book about vintage fashion and jewellery through a life lived travelling, observing, learning and creating, and finally in Toronto around the antique and vintage world since the early 1990’s.
